A 28-year-old woman suffered multiple injuries this week in a collision with a tanker truck in Burleson, Texas.
The tanker truck was traveling south on Farm-to-Market Road 1902 when the driver, Charles Cedric Wilson, passed hit stop. Wilson pulled into a private driveway in order to turn around. When backing out of the driveway to head back north, the truck lost traction on the dirt shoulder and got stuck, blocking FM 1902.
Wilson exited the truck to direct traffic around it, according to police.
Kristy Lynn Tullis, a resident of Joshua, Texas and mother of 2, was heading north on FM 1902 in a Chevrolet Equinox. She struck the tanker truck on its right side.
Tullis was transported by air ambulance to Texas Health Harris Methodist Hospital Fort Worth where she is being treated for multiple facial fractures, a blood clot in her brain and possibly other injuries, according to her sister, Carrie Driver. Driver said the full extent of Tullis’ injuries wasn’t yet clear and that she had been kept sedated due to the nature of the injuries.
Police said they did not yet know how fast Tullis was driving and said the truck driver had not yet been cited in the accident.
According to the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration, trucking company 3-Star Daylighting LP, which owns the tanker truck involved in the accident, has been involved at least 23 trucking accidents in the past 24 months. Of these, 15 involved injuries and 2 were fatal.
